Some notes on this build.

185 psi after the second angle in the chamber. Good thing for it, as saw was a bear to start, even with the sissy button.

Used a single OEM top ring and OEM clips and Bearing.

Plug held fine.

Huztl mufflers are thin and made from complete crap. Nearly impossible to weld. Dam metal spit up onto tungsten 4 times while just welding the deflector. Looked like I dipped when I didnt.

Jug was NWP, so it’s not really crap. They make some of the best AM jugs I’ve seen. Should last a good long time.

Ran strong, but I really can’t tell anymore. Still needs to be broken in and judged against an OEM ported standard bore. Mike will be doing that today and he knows not to sugar coat his opinion-we learn nothing from that.

395 piston provided the ability to go wider with the ports and run the correct piston orientation with finger ports.

The wood was like concrete. I could feel the chain biting as it was a milling chain with low rakers.

All in all, not a bad option if someone wants a big bore and wants it spicier with an OEM or Meteor piston to go with it. Now that the measurements have been made, it’s no longer any giant task to do another.

Only got to run my MS 710 briefly yesterday. We bucked 15 cord of logs before 2:00 (3 saw guys).

The 36" chain was rocked worse than I thought, so I put a 24" on it, and it was noticeably too rich. I leaned it a bit, but with the other saws constantly running, I realized it was not the best time to be playing with this monster. I don't want to make a mistake with the tune.

It ran fine, but I don't think it has reached it's potential yet, only about 1/2 tank through it so far.

Will keep you posted when I cut some more, but I think I'll be doing some hunting soon.

You may be correct Jim, but we did not start with a 070, we started with a 660, so if Stihl exaggerated, we will continue the exaggeration! (I think a 440 is also supposed to be a 430, but how would that sound???)

I think the Stihl Oh-69 :naughty: would be worthy

Looking good Moobs.

I spoke to mike. Going back into mine for a few changes.

That was from 5 or 6 years ago.

Now that saw has an OEM top end. The NWP jug was out of round and scuffed the piston pretty quick. I had to change the ring and sand the piston a few times before I finally gave up on it.
