I had already climbed this roadside scotts pine trees around this time last year.
That time the customer wanted low hanging branches removed for road safety.
Recently she decided to remove the tree altogether.
I had cut the ivy around the base of the tree last year before I knew she wanted the tree removed.
This made climbing the tree a second time pure misery, and dangerous.
The only thing worse than ivy is dead ivy. Your climbing spikes tear it away when you try to spike in, you won't get a rope up and back down through it because of how rough and rigid it is and if you try and grab a hold of it its much more likely to break off under your weight.
My felling cuts were pretty good, no room for error beside a busy road, low voltage power lines and a fibre optic cable.

A disgusting mess of dirty, dusty, dead ivy. More ivybthan timber.
Got it well cleaned up. The timber itself was very dirty, lots of knots, resin pockets and bits of rot. Not a healthy tree.
