Trees you've cut

I counted 70 growth rings in this little hemlock sapling. View attachment 335177

Hemlock are climax species. They will wait DECADES as a sapling just waiting for a break in the canopy. Amazing. More often than not old growth is right in front of people but they don’t see it because the trees are tiny.

Came down nicely on plan b. Plan A didn't look good aborted and changed course. Glad I did. Neighbor would have been ticked to say the least if it went the wrong way and took his new fence out.......

I messed up this guy the other day and didn't pay attention to where my face cut was aiming, but I still got this guy down, bucked into logs, moved outta the way, and cleaned up in less than 1.25 hours. Another 45 minutes or so and the logs were stacked by the firewood pile and all the limbs were in a pile burning! When I went to flush cut it neither of the two stump saws would start so I said F-it and used the 192 to make the stump cuts. Didn't go as I'd planned but still a safe and successful couple of hours, which is about the best I can ask for.

Well, then I'm 15-20 minutes from you. I'm up by the Georgetown end of things, but still technically in Placerville.

Ha. That was my guess. I work over that way occasionally but try to stay on my side of the river most of the time.

A light, ported 80cc is where it’s at if you ask me.

I have one more pine out there, the biggest…can’t wait. Then some smaller mesquites…meh.
