I dropped a couple of dead oaks Sunday. Gonna take down another one Saturday. Head on a swivel !!!!
Mr. Mastermind I am new to this from and really am learning a lot. For example what a prick is and polishing a turd. I also am meeting some outstanding saw builders and operators such as one named Jason that let me know DP mufflers are good for your neighbors and not having to listen to their dogs.(I already knew that one with my stock StihlMagnum440 muffler which is good because the neighbors called the police who called a forest ranger. The forest ranger and I smoothed the issue out when he found out I was cutting my own trees on my own woodlot and not the neighbors. Then the ranger and I talked about all the females we knew from High School when we realized we had gone to the same high school about 40 years earlier.). All kidding aside this is a great forum. You build some great saws! I got a Farmertec kit but just for the plastics and flywheel...I will stick with Stihl OEM for mechanicals. Be safe cutting your trees and Merry Christmas from the woods of Maine.

Just waiting for the nimbys from town who moved here recently to call 911 saying there's a fIrE across the street. They still haven't figured out why bears keep getting into the trash cans they never put away. Glad there's a bunch of old fire guys on my side of the road.

This mesquite was bigger than it looked in the pic I was sent. They had already broken it down to a spar. Big for a mesquite, which is good, it’s valuable. It was an off day…my equilibrium was off or I’m not used to the half wrap vs. the full wrap on the 395 or something. I had to adjust every cut for straight and level and it still looks like trash. It was leaning, so I didn’t wedge it, just cut until it fell. Was trying to cut it low and save as much butt as I could. Their tractor couldn’t load it, so I gotta go back another day with the tilt trailer and winch boom in the truck.

Cutting some walnut (on my mill). The tree uprooted this past winter so I really didn’t have to take it “down”. Whacked the top off and put my forks where I thought the weight midpoint was and cut the butt end and tiptoed it to the mill where I bucked it up.
