If a saw is limited to say 13.5 but turns 10.5 in the wood how can tuning it faster gain?
This saw you can't lean out like a 7900 or 390 which you can still tune leaner they just stop at the limiter so if you can tune it lean as you want but it still turns less than the limiter cutting I fail to see how it can gain.

A cant saw sure but not a work saw.

i was thinking more of retarding the timing to fool the advance curve
Me too

Car engines will make more rpm with high speed retard.

May be backwards of our natural instinct to advance everything.

The "parameters we are given" that we "need to work around" may certainly be the ignition curve. Or the monkey figured out how to make the coil fire twice. Or firing twice is what's holding rpm back. I remember some multiple discharge coils firing once from terminal to ground strap, and once from the strap to the terminal. Can't remember where.

Does the euro Saw use the same flywheel? Or does it only have one set of magnets?

I think somebody just done a thread testing coils and carbs.

Seems like the carb and mtronic were basically even and if leaning one out is a gain then it would be a gain whether it's limited or not.

Guess it will depend on the saw being a cant or work saw?

it's a high fly ball going out to right field, and you all are running out to left field. it's hard to catch the ball when your nowhere close to it.

It appears to me the answer has been given, just didn't sink in for *s-word........

The damn sun is in my eyes Scott! Can you turn me toward the ball and give me a push?
Lol

well let me try to explain this in another way.

so, sir major *f-wordwad wants to make a porting change. he stops at the shop and videos 2 test cuts to set a baseline for the day. brings the saw to my place. we tear the saw down and make the change. put the saw together. go back to the shop and video 2 test cuts. we get 3tenth faster cut. go back to my place. ter the saw down make a slight change. put the saw together. back to the shop. video 2 test cuts. we get 2 seconds slower times. decide to try the wj69 carb again. take the mtronic carb off. remove the solenoid from the carb. plug it into the wiring harness. put the wj69 on the saw tuck the solenoid and wiring in the carb box. fight with the choke to get the saw started. tune saw. video 2 test cuts. cut time is slower. then mtronic. attach tach to saw. runs around 13.000 or so. tune saw with tach. make video of tach reading, 14,880. tune saw to 13,8oo. video 2 test cuts. cut around the same time as mtroic. done for the day. post video of tach reading. all hell breaks loose on the nets. and here we are.
