I used some 2 part automotive epoxy I don't recall the name. Some 3M product I had from years ago. It's holding up ok, but his suggestion sounds much better. The screen I bought off of eBay 150 micron stainless mesh it was 6"x12" around $8. Same with the 1/8" mesh

BT's airfilter mod is very much worth the effort.

IMHO, the primary gain in the porting is lowering the exhaust to a 346-like 105*. They are around 95* stock and for the life of me, I don't know why they did that.

With the mods you listed in your other thread, I bet your saw is 4 stroking in the mid 15's.

Be nice to the Farm boss 029's. I have a 029 that I bought over 25 years ago that has proven very reliable and has cut many, many cords. It is a good value for the money. I tweaked the muffler and carb and it still runs well today.

Sure Jeff...
I bet you haven't run the 029 since you got the 440 that probably weighs the same...

I haven't ran it, but the 440 is definitely heavier. Noticeably heavier. But there is just something about that 029. It has proved very reliable and performed very well for me. I would be willing to bet that more 026's have blew up than 029's. I am not one to judge, as I take good care of my equipment.

I think I will Dallas. I was using that Husky 345 for much of the small work, but that needs a little TLC for the intake boot and a new updated metal clamp. Gotta strip the saw down to bare parts to do that I guess. But I am more partial to Stihl, so I am streamlining. Lol
I'll fix up the 345 for a loaner saw.

The 029-039 were made for firewood stuff and for that they are just fine .However in some situations they don't live long .

I have a box full of dead 029 and 039 that only lasted about one year from service for two tree services .They tried them out because they were cheaper .Didn't work out well for them but then again they got their moneys worth out of them

Lol. I hear ya. On that same note. I am anxiously awaiting my 026 from Doc at the GTG. Like a kid waiting for Christmas day to come.

I didn't know you were having the Doc build you one. When did this happen?

I think I used my 029 for exactly what it was intended for. At the time I bought it, I was much younger, and I couldn't justify or afford paying twice the amount for the 026. So I bought the 029. At times I have cut all day for 2 weeks or more every day. Then I have down time. I do not use it every day, but when I do use it, I lean on it. I am OCD about the fuel mix, and keeping the saw tuned up and sharp. I do regular bar maintenance and keep my chains sharp. But that 029 has been able to answer every call with ease. After all, it was my first saw that I purchased new. In truth, I wished I could have afforded that 026, but I couldn't swing it.
The 026 was my first choice.

Al's got them dialed in really well. I just copied what works for him. No original thoughts here.

In secret in the back room. Lol. In the last month or so. I'm going to pick it up at the GTG I hope.
It will be there. It should be done by next Sunday.

If you'd like it shipped, we are close, and I bet its under $20. You can have the saw for use this season Jeff.

I called my friend who is a dealer and gave him my serial and he told me it was sold in 2001 so how late of a model it is couldn't tell you.
he wouldn't tell me a date or name. but eventually im going to order the carb and mod the muffler so i can feed it some 32 or 40:1.
