The non adjustable oil pumps tend to actually work better IMO. They put out more oil then the adjustable pumps even when the adjustable pumps are turned to max.
If you can find a 194 carb to put on it and open up that muffler some more that saw will be a totally different animal.
Nice grab Jake. You done real good IMO

Your 290 will outcut it in its current state. Hope you're not disappointed.

Like Joe said, it's a US made 026.

All you need to do is open the muffler, add a wt194 and metal air filter, and advance the timing a bit and that saw will be a different animal.

I've got several 026 saws and run them all stock and have been happy with them as is. The one in this thread is later than any I have.

20" bar is pushing it a bit... I've used 18, 16 and currently 17" on mine. (all in .325)

The adjustable oiler is a moot point in my opinion. The adjustable oilers don't run when the saw is idling but I typically don't let saws idle much anyway. The 026 is my all time favorite Stihl and I've owned/run most models. (except the latest Mtronic ones)

Can't tell from the pics but does this saw have a compression release? Those usually just come on the Pro model.

My error. You have the MS260 compensating carb and air filter in that saw.

The nylon AM filters do a good job, especially in a non-ported saw.

I very much prefer the fixed non-pro oiler. It just oils better and the crank driven part doesn't matter much in the real world. Just shut the saw when you're not cutting. I almost never let a saw idle for over 30 seconds.

You should be able to buy an AM adjustable carb and filter for that very cheaply.

I have never used an 029, but I think you made a good trade. Nice thing about the single screw carb is that they are normally so rich that your top end should be like new. For the price of a Walbro 194, I wouldn't mess with aftermarket Chinese carb. The muff mod options are endless. (After the carb upgrade) make us some pics and vids please...

Be nice to the Farm boss 029's. I have a 029 that I bought over 25 years ago that has proven very reliable and has cut many, many cords. It is a good value for the money. I tweaked the muffler and carb and it still runs well today.
