Ouch- that's not common on the 084. Were any of the base screws loose?

Wow.

Jacob J. asked what I would have asked. A loose base bolt and/or a bad casting could have surely been the cause. Some times paper gaskets will pack down from lots of compression.

@Gypo Logger posted a picture of his beloved 346 that met the same end. I believe he had 8+ years on that saw.

Did it wipe your piston out?

Nope. It was running and running well. All screws were tight. Piston is unmarked.

had a 066 redlight do that from back to front across the transfer tunnel.that sucks.

Back in the day I had a Stihl 050AV do that, we milled alot with that saw though, it was VERY well used.
I got a cylinder from JJ, and all set. Piston was not hurt.

I think they had ran at one stage a NOS fogger nozzle thru the decomp port. Too much NOS and blew the cylinder off the case. [emoji6]
