Built 084

Hey guys, i recently acquired a 084 that was supposedly built to race. Needless to say it didn't perform very well. I pulled the cylinder off and found some odd stuff I have never seen before. Tell me what you think.

Finger ports , gone wrong

I think the guy that was working on that might have watched a YouTube video and said...."Hey, I can do that..." or he might have been drunk or blind at the time. That sucks pulling the top off and seeing that, unless you got a really good deal on the saw.

I guess you could also say that the cylinder was manually scored.

I think you got screwed.

Both finger and bridge ports gone terribly wrong.

That’s actually good. The ring ends would pass over the fingers and could snag if it were in the original orientation.

That looks like the Caribou-horn design. Did that saw come from Canada?

At least a new aftermarket piston and cylinder is relatively inexpensive, about half as much as a new Stihl.

That looks like the Caribou-horn design. Did that saw come from Canada?

It looks like spider legs!

You actually might be able to salvage that jug. The hack cut the PTO side tentacle super close to the upper. Other than that, and the fact like they appear to open 10* ahead of the uppers, you actually could get it to run. Even the best quality AM cylinders don’t run or last like an oem jug.
