After looking at your saw I'm missing a few pieces on the one here.

My saw also has the 395 style filter on a 394.
Husky illiterate but catching up fast.

Everything looks good so far but the worm gear was melted, it needs a plug wire, the carb box rubber divider and something else
Most everything is still available and reasonably priced (small stuff) @dustinwilt68 has a wealth of info if you need

He looks like my best bet so far to build up a custom milling saw 395. I have about half the major OE parts needed so far. Some parts are getting changed in favor of bigger is better. Be nice to find a good jungle clutch and drum for it. How much bigger is a 3120 clutch and drum? I wonder...

That rubber piece between the cylinder and carb is NLA I do believe but typically ported saws have it removed anyways, not a huge deal, it's called a seal collar
I was thinking a simple closed cell foam piece trimmed to fit should do it. It will help with air injection pushing less volume to the box and should yield less chips in the box one would think.

The filter is the same as a 395, the difference nis the elbow is completely different, and the carb mounting.bolts are at different.angles from.the 394 vs 395
I'll get you a pic of my box and filter elbow. No need to break something that doesn't fit right. I have no clue.

Just use the oem part. I swear it will be fine. It’s like $6

I have not messed with the carb or intake yet. Plan to lift off the whole top end and check it out more. Been pulling parts of to clean and check them over. Recoil was a mess.... the plug wire still is.

I think it needs some idol screw extention and a boot there.

I ordered a metric *s-word-ton of parts for this build from husky. At the moment most parts are still available. I wouldn’t wait too long though.....

That blue idle screw is still available too. The “boot” is NLA. You can modify one from a 395. Luckily that’s was one part that I didn’t need to replace

You think they will drop the 394 parts soon?
I've looked up the kit to go all 395. I would like to try a bigger carb and intake block on the 394. It will flow more than a 395 at the port window imo. Should have more velocity at the carb with a wider intake port. You would need some good transfer ports to keep up.

I would pull the seals at least on that, and if the bearings look at even a touch carboned I'd split it. its old enough to justify it and the bearings are super cheap. nice projects though gents!

Bearings are sitting here. Need to get a seal and gasket kit. I'm not pulling the seals and just doing them. It has to be done up and good to go before going on my mill. The 084 will serve in is place for now after a good air filter setup is installed. The extra 660 I tossed together is hanging in there.

The 394 HD filter neck and the 395 filter neck are pretty much the same besides the bolt holes. The 394 has holes and anti-crush sleeves for M5 bolts, where the 395 is just the plastic for M4 botls.

I've enlarged the holes on a 395 neck to work on a 394.

I remember this being mentioned before. I will make sure my mount has bushings in it or they will get installed.

Found some pretty nice bronze bushings in 8x12x12mm
Going to split them in half to get 8x12x4.5mm then drill per application like Husky and Echo. Decided against bar adapters for now.
