So I'm just curious. Note I'm not asking for any secrets or anything like that. But when it comes to timing numbers is there a degree you want them to fall into? Like say exhaust 90-130
I assume its different from saw to saw and engine type. I currently don't have a timing wheel but I'm going to get one soon. Just wondering if there are any pointers? I trust the people on this site more than any others to not give me some *B-S.... response.

Thanks I appreciate it. I've got the attention span of an ant on fire. Every time I try to sit down and try to figure out how to navigate this site, ohh look a shiny penny! 🤣
Pay for a couple saws to get ported. Won’t have to worry about finding any leftover shiny pennies that way.

Easy

Maybe some day I'll send a cylinder off to someone. but I'm a diy kind of person. Just within this last year starting with no prior experience I've learned stick, mig and tig welding.

#2 how to work on plumbing. Rerouted our water heater to a completely different part of the house, all galvanized steel hand cut and threaded, I learned how to repair terracotta septic tank leach lines,

#3 how to work on small electric motors brushed and brushless. 1st motor i rewrapped the armature and repaired the commutator. I'm on a roll this year with learning things and I want to keep going.

Currently #4 trying to use punctuation 🤣

The shinny penny thing I was referring to using apps on my phone. IDK why but my phone doesn't interest me like it use to. Probably why I break them so frequently. 🤣

I should have asked. Are you trying to hint at something? Like have you port 1? If so not this payday but maybe the next one if you've got a p.o box or something like that I'll ship you a brand new OEM cylinder to port.

I've seen your muh fingers look really big quote plus the sausage picture pop up a quite a few times on different discussions that I have a feeling you might be a Trustworthy source. But i don't know for sure. I've been *f-worded over a few times in my life. (tis why I try to learn to do something myself) after reading about wicked saws or whatever the person went by, I'm a little Leary

I don’t actually know which one of the moderators put that in my signature. I thought it was funny so I left it.

I was just teasing about porting a saw. Just trying to be funny as a good way of getting rid of all your spare change so those shiny pennies weren’t there giving you a squirrel moment.

Crooked builders don’t last here. They get called out and booted instantly. There is also a builder review section here where anyone can get feedback from who is who, who’s good, and who isn’t

Ya I kinda figured if you were one of the bad eggs you would have been run off by now. From just reading into things related to my saw there are 2 usernames that are real frequent that I have faith that I could trust. Your name and I have no clue if he is still around but mastermind is another one. There is one post of his that made my sides hurt. It was in response to someone. he said God I wish you would talk in a straight line. I have no idea what your babbling on about. 🤣 I laughed a little to loud on that one. But as for porting a cylinder I might actually do that. I've thought it over and it would give me the opportunity to study a ported cylinder by someone who has been doing it for a while.

I've been doing port work for as long as I've been clean 10 years. Old man that I learned from said to me. Would you like to learn to do port work? I said yes obviously. He proceeded to the back of his shop and came out with a brand new biltet lsx cylinder head set it down and said, you've been watching me do port work for a few months now! here is the die grinder do what you think is supposed to be done. I obviously was nervous as all hell because he trusted me to port a what was at the time over 1300$ set of heads without ever doing it before. Ya I sent the bur acrossed the mating surface a few times nothing to bad though even though the first time it skipped acrossed i felt my heart go into my stomach, luckily he had all the cnc machinery you could possibly think of. Those heads went on to make 872 bhp. Obviously not just from my port work 🤣. That was the start of my porting addiction 🤣I miss that ole man. He looked a lot and sounded a lot like iron horse. He passed away on the back of his motorcycle.

In my opinion porting a 2 stroke is a little more challenging since it can and will change timing. Since I've only just started to port 2 strokes I think I could really benefit from studying the work of someone who has been doing it for

Ya I figured if you were one of the bad eggs you would have been run off by now. It's messed up that people rip people off. You work your fingers to the bone and the person that messes you over doesn't lift a finger. Money is in my opinion one of the dumbest human concepts. I look at life as if your a good person you deserve my respect. I don't care if your gay, straight, black, white, Christian, Muslim,Jewish, American, swedish, ecct or if you identify as a purple apache attack helicopter, if your a bad person i dont want anything to do with you.

From all the different threads regarding my modle saw I've read there are 2 usernames that pop in my mind that I would say I probably trust even tho I've had no or very little interaction with. You and I don't know if he is still on this site but mastermind. There is one post he made responding to someone that made my sides hurt. He said God I wish you would talk in a straight line. I have no idea what your babbling on about🤣. I laughed entirely to loud at that response.

But Ya if you port cylinders Ill have to take that opportunity. I've been porting 4 strokes for about 10 years but 4 strokes don't have their timing changed via grinding. I figure I could study whoevers port work better if I had a cylinder in hand vs looking at a video or picture on my phone.

Mastermind kinda runs this joint, or at least keeps the cats herded up.

Your post made complete sense to me. There used to be a guy here that spoke English but we all needed a translator to understand him. He gon’ now.

I won’t repeat it but one of the funniest things I’ve ever read on here came from @Mastermind referring to his brother. It was brutally honest and I still laugh about it today

There’s a rough general pattern to port numbers based on CC but it can vary from model to model and final ported numbers also can be quite different based on style.

The best thing to do is just find a saw you want to port, research recipes and try a conservative port job. Then another and another. After just a few saws you’ll start to make your own correlations.

Well what happened was I wrote down the first section and then I went to do something leaving the app open. When I returned to my phone I decided to rewrite what I was saying. I didn't realize until after I hit the post reply button I hadn't deleted what I said at first. So I accidentally posted the 2 sections together.

What the hell goes on here?
Hey have you ever heard of sassy the Sasquatch? Australian YouTube character.

I have. Watched a fair bit of sassy content this winter, while killing time waiting for cuts to finish (machinist by trade).

Not sure if I should be proud of that or not haha. Sassy reminds me of a few of my favorite people

The good thing about turtles is, they don't give you warts.
Makes sense.
