That was my first thought, but the piston shows no sign of contact. It was running a gasket and the bearings all seem tight.Your piston may be worn on the skirt allowing the it to flop a bit,,,had an 066 that you could have shaved with the thin skirt and it flopped and left a it clean like that.
But I could be wrong,,,

That is some very excessive carbon build up. It's good you decided to clean it up before it could break loose and destroy the piston. Maybe consider changing brands of oil unless you bought it that way.
It does have the worst carbon I've seen. No idea what oil it was. It's just a parts saw I've had for years. Seems like a low hour saw though. That is some very excessive carbon build up. A stick of butter may burn cleaner as mix than what was used. LolIt does have the worst carbon I've seen. No idea what oil it was. It's just a parts saw I've had for years. Seems like a low hour saw though.
I agree. It was probably a homeowner saw . 16:1 with 30 HD. Lol. The bore looks great, a lot of carbon in the exhaust though.A stick of butter may burn cleaner as mix than what was used. Lol
