The other cleaned side “pto” . Notice the exhaust burn , was that due to the worn engine mounts ? 🤔

In this pic, I’ve got the crank cases back together. I used some gasket paper and some non drying aviation Permatex gasket stuff.
I will dig out the drywall screw in the crank seal pic.
Btw, I heated the crank bearing on the out side and used leaverage before the bearing got to warm. I managed to get it apart just enough to cut a rough shape gasket and slide it in between . Then re cut it a bit more and then apply the gasket glupe and use the screws/bolts to pull it back together. But it did need a bit more heating on the bearing housing after it had cooled off to make sure it was snug 🫰

Not a very good pic, but you can see the drywall screw. Once in a bit. (Just enough) a slight bang around the edges to dislodge the seating it pulls out a lot easier than not disturbing it 👍
Knocking the new ones in is just a case of noting how far (deep they in ) and drifting then new ones in with that sealing stuff I used in the base gasket.
Btw I’ve read in the stihl manuals about lubing the viton with grease. I use whatever is on hand (2stroke oil or any other lube)IMG_8291.jpeg

And now for the vid or vids
The first is just it running and me tuning it a bit while cutting a bit of ash 4 or so inches .
The second vid is in bigger ash 13” approx. Without changing the tuning.

I ran out of time & light to do a comparison vid wit my other 150 🥺

I thought I,d rekindle this thread with another Ms150tc 🤷‍♂️

The shorts is . The last one went to my son as a xmas present. And I got the urge to replace it with another one 🤦‍♂️

This vid is the first startup after receiving it today..
I will add the listing said, it vibrates and stop switch don’t work but works ok.
However this seller I believe mabe a dealer and has taken this saw in px, the reason is it came in a stihl box

However, the tickover (slow ?.? Not checked yet) it seems lumpy/ knocky.. and while running half to full throttle it’s not smooth as it should be.. it does stumble on acceleration
I have my ideas,, but would like you lot to chime in on what you think from this short vid
Here on YouTube

MS150tc

I'm not sure when I will get around to taking it apart just yet? But hopefully I will find the time here or there..

Engine mount bolts will be loose I guarantee it! the top engine mount bolt being loose prevents the saw switching off (the earth connection is here!) Saw will be fine as long as the flywheel has not eaten away at the fuel tank! I have had success in using larger self tapping stihl bolts or screws (often used in the Stihl blower range) in the oversized worn holes on the engine chassis.

I have done, while fixing other saws, at most half of the things that you have done here. Your patience is truly spectacular. Gasp! Please keep up the good work for all of us. Eventually you will be able to jump right to the cause of the mechanical problems that you encounter and fix the saw with half the steps and time. That is my prediction. :)

Yes you right @Creaky limb tree care & @Ketchup

…farking engine mounts and probably the wrong too short bolts :private: With the help of some poxy resin of some stuff to stop it fallin out
I just looked at the ipl. Thay should be D5 26 self tappers and I think the ones used are D4 16 ? Maybe D4 20 at a push

Maybe this one will need a new/ or sh crank case . its wallowed like nuthing I’ve seen before 🤦‍♂️

Anyway movin fwd, it’s apart and now needs a good clean. have not taken the cylinder off just yet . As I want to get a squish reading. I think someone had been in there due to the dirco on the base gasket.?

The pic's…
Some poxy stopping the bolt fallin out and stop in the off switch earthing out 🤠
It took a nail and hammer to knock it out so I could get a torx on it but I didn’t need to actually undo due to the shortness and wallowedness😝
IMG_8510.jpeg
The wrong and way too short bolts, you can see the poxy on the left hand one.
IMG_8518.jpeg
And the wallowed only half way through case 🧐IMG_8515.jpegIMG_8517.jpeg

I will have a closer look later this week and figure out if I can do what you suggest. I may even be able to use some chemical metal and drill and retap the threads . Although I’m not so sure if this would be worth it.
I think a s/h case would be a better fix

Here’s a bit of an update on this saw.

It definitely looks like someone has been in this saw before. I'm not sure why ?

It could be the crank case half has been changed as its a different colour. However whoever put it back together used the the wrong bolts which failed in short order.

The saw was run pig rich for some time and there is carbon on the crank lobes 🤷‍♂️ and some carbon on the front of the piston as well as some behind the piston ring (I haven’t got a pic of this) but I will do

I ve helicoiled what’s left (about 1/2 way) on the engine mounts and I’ve fitted some bolts with some Vaseline in the threads. Then poured some runny epoxy to fill up the void . I'm not sure how long ithe epoxy will last, but I do think there is enough meat in the case threads to hold it in place

The epoxy isn’t fully cured yet,I think it’s been just about 12hrs. So I’ve taken the opportunity to undo the bolts I used and sand down the excess. Although Not fully flush just yet.

I’ve started cleaning the piston and got a pic of the front & back. The back has some wear but not as much as as the other 150's I’ve done. However it’s puzzling me as to why there’s so much carbon in this saw.
You can see there is some in the ring lands and down the front but it’s the build up in the windows/front sides of the piston as well as the crank lobes. I can only guess wrong mix at the moment?

Anyhow I’m busy for the next few days, it maybe a little while before I get back to this saw and get it fully cleaned up. I’ve also got to order a few parts (longer bolts, air filter etc.)

Edit: I should have said previously, after helicoiling the case mounts, i thoroughly cleaned the Recess holes with brake cleaner before i filled the void with epoxy.
