Watch out for the jo-jo effect, loose two gain ten . . .
Yeah, I tried downsizing once too..worked for a couple weeks..

For reelz!
The saw gods do not allow for "downsizing", every time I try and get rid of one saw, two more take it's place. o_O

Honestly, I don't *need* more than one saw (but where's the fun in that?)

Here are runners I have. All are OEM (some with meteor pistons)

064
046 D-Jug
044 10mm
041
MS 391
034
028Super x2 (one of them fully rebuilt)
024 (ugly--loaner saw)
020AVSuper
288XPLite
261/2 XP (262 piston)
Poulan 245A
Poulan 4000 Countervibe
Homelite XL101 (sentimental--was my grandfather's)
Also a Homelite SXL925 that's currently not running. Think it needs bearings
and an 026 (not pro) not running. Just bought, have no idea what it needs (but probably the usual fuel stuf)

Thinking of maybe downsizing to:

046
026
028
020AVS
024 (to remain as loaner)

Thoughts?

Hope you have enough room to double or triple your current collection. Lol

I have downsized over the last few years, down to less than two dozen saws. We're thinking about getting a smaller house and yard, maybe a little less garage space so I may get rid of several items that I've not used in the last ten years...
I've "downsized" and sold a few saws. After I do this, I usually get a letter back from the new owner who bought the saw. He says that he loves the saw and has cut cords of wood with it, runs flawlessly, always starts, etc. Then I have to ask myself, "Why on earth did I sell that saw?"

I am in the phase of acquiring and increasing my herd, one not pictured, two en route.

I buck an average of 8 cubic meters of firewood logs for my own heating purposes.
I do not process firewood commercially.

Down sizing would be a smart move for me, but it would make me feel miserable so I won't. :)

Yeah... I’ve been playing with the 026 I recently acquired today. Separated tank from cases to replace AV, impulse, etc and give it a thorough cleaning. I had to constantly remind myself that it’s a low-hour saw and I’d be stupid to strip it all the way down, split cases and replace all the bearings. Guy ran nasty old fuel through it regularly, I think. Lots of carbon.

(And, because he was using nasty old fuel when trying to sell it to me, it wouldn’t start. Therefore I low-balled him and offered him $50. Winner winner, chicken dinner!)

He also gave me about a gallon of old mix, which I’ve been using to flush the crankcase. :)
