Bark does not look like white oak. The splits look like red oak; the bark looks like red oak. It is oak for sure. White oak smells amazing when cutting/splitting. Red oak stinks to most people. I say you have red oak; but no idea what species of red oak.
Yep that looks like northern red
Looks like a basswood. I have several hundred too many of them on my place lolA tree fell down a couple weeks ago at my place. Let's see if anyone can tell me what it is.

Thanks for looking!
It’s hard to tell because they are half dead and curled up but those look a lot like chestnut oak. That would be a member of the white family. Some of your pictures do look like white oak grain, but some of them look like red. Are you sure they are from the same tree?Smells rather pleasant, not the typical sharp funk of red oak.
Take a look @ these leaves and twigs from one the limbs not pictured.

Yeppers...same knarly tree! Right now I'm polling @ 95% Chestnut Oak...so you're all over it!It’s hard to tell because they are half dead and curled up but those look a lot like chestnut oak. That’s some primo firewood. It will season a little faster than red oak and it will hold up to the weather way longer too. Nice score!Yeppers...same knarly tree! Right now I'm polling @ 95% Chestnut Oak...so you're all over it!
Appreciate yer feedback.
I would have guessed Ash or possibly Hickory. I'd need to see the cut end of a log.A tree fell down a couple weeks ago at my place. Let's see if anyone can tell me what it is.

Composite leaves directly opposite and bark point to Ash. White ash would be my guess.A tree fell down a couple weeks ago at my place. Let's see if anyone can tell me what it is.

I've got the logs up at my pole barn; I'll see if it stops raining enough to go up there and take some pics. Thanks!I would have guessed Ash or possibly Hickory. I'd need to see the cut end of a log.
