Yeah, for such a good quality firewood with high density, them bugs sure can make powder out of a stick of Hickory quick. It must be delicious.Yes, an injury while it is standing (missing branch) will direct rot into the core where it generally stays only rotting the red heart wood. Laying on the ground, they quickly rot from the outside in starting with bugs eating right under the bark.

They’ll only eat it fresh cut it seems..Darn borers sure like hedge! Never could figure why they liked that hard stuff!
Thomas is a little slow on the hickory uptake..
He lives in *s-wordwood county like me..
