I might be on to something .Clutch side seal 042/048 .Hard to find but I found at least one I think 20 x 35.8 x 4 ---SKU MD 172133 --Google search with seal dimensions---
Might have found a bearing that could be adapted 20x 42 x 12 .Double seal which could have the seals removed and possibly be ground to thickness with a surface grinder if needed .
If these would work they are cheap like 5-6 bucks a bearing and $3.50 a seal .
That plate looks like it could use a polish to get that varnish off, possible that it ran good till some of that varnish popped loose and plugged a passage in the carb.
WS-3 carb. I'd clean that plate up and put it back in.
That’s strange my 048 Ipl calls for the ws14 just like an 042I’ll give the plate a better cleaning and try it again.
Thanks for the tips.
Also thanks for posting the pages from the big book. I went and pulled mine out, I had forgotten I have one haha. I am missing the 042 service manual but have the 048. Interesting.
I checked what it said for the carb and it read WS25.
I been thinking about your bearing dilemma and a video that tree monkey had made makes me think it could be a solution?
If you are trying to fit larger O.D. Bearings you could fit the crank case into a lathe and turn the bearing bore larger. Or if you need it smaller a guy might be able to weld the bearing bore and then turn it on a lathe to the needed size.
