My 024 this summer when it was hot would die after about 20-30 seconds at idle .I just assume it was set a tad rich because you could hear it load up .I'll see how it does since the weather turned colder .I never reset anything from last winter .I mean it runs just fine .If it dies I gas it on a drop start and it lights off on one pull .
A drop isn't a big deal on an itty little saw .Rest assured I don't do it on a large saw.Good way to cut your leg off --not good --

I drop start my 064 all the time and my 075 with a shorter bar. Won’t drop start my 090 or 075 when the 41” bar is on it.

LOOKING FOR TILLOTSON HS-320A CARB MANUAL / PARTS DIAGRAM..

I AM REALLY TRYING TO FIND ONE - BUT I CAN'T

Wouldn’t a manual for any hs series carb work? I thought the extra numbers just designated the throttle shaft and choke arrangement ect. Thought the main carb body was the same or am I wrong?

Fiddled with the 024 last night. Couldn't cut anything but I wanted to see if I could at least fix the idle. As of right now, it idles at 3100 rpm just fine with the L screw about 1.25 turns out. The factory spec is 2500 rpm as I remember. The chain moves forward very slowly at times but I think that is just vibration. If this stupid rain stops I should be able to cut with it some tonight.

Back the LA out a bit more, or just back the L off a hair. You should be good to go.
Readjust after you run it for a while and it gets warmed up.

Guess I shoulda asked, "from what?"...., as in what's the typical application so it could possibly be located in an IPL somewhere. Or....

Look up tillotson hs break down without the specific model 320a. I got an 8 page manual from tillotson that had complete breakdown and rebuild procedures. Along with trouble shooting guide.

FWIW there's a little slot on some carbs in the throttle plate which aligns with the low speed jet .If for some reason the plate gets turned just slightly they won't idle correctly .Now I can't remember if the HS has that or not without taking one off a saw .Unless I can find one in my pile of junk which might take forever .

I have every darn downloadable file on their site. If this was the old days I would prob, have all the tech manuals we
probably aren't supposed to have... via a FTP file sniper software - but I don't do that any more lol..

The HS parts list stopped at 290 xxx ?? .. So

I still would think the main carb body would be the same. I have many stihls that have zama carbs that all take the same kits and main carb looks identical just different ways to hook linkage up. Doesn’t make sense to change the main carb body from a manufacturer stand point. Use the same body and change the shafts out for different applications as long as the carb throat and jets are large enough for size of saw ect.

Same RB kit is used from the 2xx's on up to the 320.

So where'd the spread sheet come from in the first place? And why not just cross ref those part#'s with any other HS up to the 290 to find the differences and proceed accordingly..., or get a Walbro and be done with it.

I never knew there could be so much drama associated with a 2-stroke carb -- a modern one at that.

Inherited this little Stihl 015 with the brush cutter atachment from my aunt. I remember running it when I was about ten had to be mid eighties. Power head is bad but I have another 015 to fix it. It is neat the brush cutter in bolts and you can but the bar, chain and side cover on an run it as a saw.
