In September at a GTG I had the opportunity to compare a PS-9010 with a PS-7910.
I do have a 9010 but it never has seen wood so far, and a 7900 which I love for her
outstanding performance.
Now having a direct comparison, I was surprised of how lame the 9010 behaved.
No trace of neither the 11 ccm surplus displacement nor the 0,8 HP more on the 9010's account.
And the guy owning both saws knows how to keep them in best shape.

I had expected much more from the 9010 than what she delivered.

They seem like more of a pain than they're worth with poor air filtration, no side tensioner, continuous shaft driven oil pump, some parts are a pain to take on and off. I think the spark plug boot welded itself to the airfilter cover on mine during the first test run since porting. It only had a half tank run through it before that. I'll find out what happened when I run it hot enough to get the air filter cover back off. I really did not expect heat issues with this saw, but maybe it is a bad rubber formula.

So far I am OK with my PS-9010, no issues to speak off.
She was low on power with the factory stock muffler, she woke up a bit with a MM though.
My PS-9010 is my dedicated long bar saw now, 36" 3/8" full complement.

Apparently the air filter cover welded itself to part of the top cover. It must have been vibration caused heat because there are no signs of significant heat anywhere. I'm not sure how well the porting turned out. It feels like it has a couple peaks, which I can only assume means the port timing and direction is mismatched, which isn't exactly a bad thing. It feels like it has a peak around 11,200rpm or so and another at 9600, and lots of torque left from there down to 7500. I just need to adjust the oil pump since it ran out 1 or 2 cuts before the gas. I think it made 17 cuts in a 30" chunk of oak on one tank with a new .404 Dolmar semichisel chain.

Which Dolkita EA models have reed valves? My understanding is the 6100 has a reed valve, but I'm not aware of the others. TYIA
6100 has a small reed valve on the strato air intake port, quite unlike any other. Other than that, I don't know of other models using reeds.
