Beans aren’t very good up here this year. See small beans.

Beans around here were over achievers, according to reports.

All the moaning & groaning has been about the corn. Lots of southern rust, root worms & green snap ; with some other maladies reported.

Any of you folks have any experience with bagging corn ?

We started last night, looks like it has the potential to be more of a monumental PIA than anything.

If it turns off wet, getting it out isn’t going to happen without a lot of issues.

Wildlife damage to the bags seems to be a big problem as well.
Yup and it can be. It’s a short term solution before building another bin or to be used in a situation like you find yourself in.

Some guys to it every year and get away with it. Others have bags split from packing too tight due to inexperienced operators or from buying poor quality bags.

The only bags we’ve had great luck with have been UpNorth bags. Spendy but never had one split and they’re still stretchy after a year in the sun. We never leave grain in one that long but silage sometimes will be in one over a year.

Get the at bag grain out first and it’ll all work out.

I can’t really answer that question, maybe just a Midwest deal.

The 9770 had some issues on Friday about 2 hrs after starting. My brother went & got one from a salvage yard, they got it swapped out & going about by 9pm.

Dad hammered away with the 6 row until he buried a couple of snouts about 8pm.

Is there a planetary set in there?
I have no clue, I was in a cart chasing the other combine & hauling to the ethanol plant.

I haven’t asked or studied it.

Trying different sized mesh on my small corn mill.
3.5mm is too coarse for wheats as entire seeds tend to pass through it.
2.4mm is nice, but makes a lot of fine flour.
So I guess 3.0mm would be the sweet spot?
I mill corn on the 3.5mm mesh.
Food gets mixed at ~50/50 corn & wheats, for chicken and ducks, plus some mineral & vitamin supplements.
