The Longest Day

I was helping on a prescribed fire on another WMA that went bad last spring. 68 hours after leaving the house, I returned. I was up for about 72 hours that time. We had to work to get it to burn when we started, then the weather went to pot and humidity dropped and winds started gusting up to 90 mph. It turned bad FAST.

I've done some 36 hour days when working and then driving straight home. There was 1 stretch there with only about 2 hours sleep in 50 hours.

Went the first 13 days with only an hour here or there, no showers and the only food we had was scrounge off the pilots/crew. Good times

Been there once with our little girl when we were visiting Biltmore. Good hospital, but the first ER doc we had was an A hole. The nurse warned us before we saw him. Asheville is a unique town for sure. Depends in what part you visit. We come over there 5-6 times a year minimum.

Yeah there are all kinds who work there. Mission employs 11000 people and probably more when the new tower is finished. I don like going to Asheville, except to work. I live in the country and prefer this life, but a mans got work to buy saws.

feb.29 1992 left texarkana for israel . flew to dallas 9o am.left dallas to houston. left houston for ny and had engine problems so we had a stop over at n orleans.ordered parts out of st. louis and plane left at 7pm for ny arrived in new york at? time and our flight had left already so they put us in a hotel for the night and i could not sleep at day break march 1 we had breakfast and we toured the statue of liberty. we left about 9pm that night and flew to frankfurt airport and stayed in airport a couple hours and then departed for londons' heathrow and laid over 4 hours and the departed for israel arrived around 10 monday morning in tel aviv. so ever how many hours that is that was my longest day 48 plus
