The Longest Day

I work at mission hospital in asheville NC. (Maintenance Tech). I just got home from working snow detail. Clocked in at 7am friday morning and clocked out 7am satrday. Worked regular 700-330 and rest is OT. Been up 27 hrs. I prob have been up longer without sleep in my younger days but it made me wonder, whats the longest day you have had without sleep?

27 hours on the job.

Worked my 12 at night and helped day shift finish the project.
That was after 14 nights 7-7 needless to say I know how ya feeling...

I've gone 24 -30 hours buncha times. It hurts a lot more at 54 than it did at 40. Occupational hazard. Circumstances that lead to this are impossible to explain to someone outside my industry.

We had nights I was on at the hospital from 7am until 4pm the next day...technically I could only put in 30 hours legally. ..but if I had patients it's not like I had much choice as a resident. Was up all night a few nights sewing up people's faces.....oh the stories

After a good nights sleep the next day was much worse.

Drove straight from los angeles to iowa city when i finished my internship. Worked that day and tried to nap, maybe slept a couple hours, then left LA at midnight, got to iowa city about 2 AM the following day.

When chickens go out that's usually 24 plus hour event. Gotta raise fees lines and water lines ahead of catch crews hours before Makes for long nights every few months I guess you'd say

I just did it so I could drive home in the am, get me home 12 hours earlier.

In my line of work it dosent pay/not required to work long hours.

Had one job quoted for 3 days. They begged and pleaded to get it done faster. Well 24 hours later it was all done, got all loaded up and ready to leave. "Well since ya got it done in one day we aren't gonna pay ya the full amount".

Well I can set back up and take the other 2 days if ya gonna be that way...

when i was younger i worked night shift and sleep was over rated id wake up thursday afternoon and wouldnt go back to bed until sunday afternoon for a couple hours and go the work . no drugs involved was party time i was living on 2 cases of mountain dew a week then also

I think the longest I have ever gone was 38 hours straight, I was 19, sleep was for the dead!

In my youth I pulled 36's on a regular schedule for about a year. Yea, that was dumb lol but I was young and sleep was for old people lol

Back when I was a young fella fishing up in Alaska, if the fish were coming on strong, we would go a few weeks or so. Catch a nap on the fly if you could here and there. After three or four months of that a guy was glad to cut loose and have a good sleep. Amazing what a guy can do if he needs to, would not want to do it now, or even know if I could if I had to. The good ol' days are gone.

28 hours when I was young, spray painted a boat tank that they use to trim the balance with, doesnt sound so bad if it wasnt because those type tanks is a pyramide with small pockets and lots of manhole to crawl through. Those 28 hours was on my knees.

When I go from day shift to graveyard I pull 30+ hours every three weeks. If we get scheduled to work a Saturday I will pick up another guys shift so 16 ain't a thang.
