Gotta be careful shooting metal objects filled with tannerite. A buddy and I shot an old ammo box packed with it and were nearly hit with shrapnel. It cut small pine limbs right over us.

He was a radio operator in the Tank Destroyers, operating in the wide open farm fields in Germany. But as a radio operator, they issued him a 30 cal carbine. I asked him what he did with that, and he replied "The first thing you did was trade the carbine for an M-1, with someone who did not need his any more".
