We still have a couple mills that deal with oversize/old growth but they're slowly dying off.
One, Starfire Lumber, in Cottage Grove, used to have some legendary butt logs in their yard.
They got few trees in the late 90's that were so big they had to be delivered on a low-boy (One
Doug Fir was 9 foot in diameter on the small end).

Saw the log buy last year at OLC for Zippo from what I understood they have the largest saw in the state, Starfire, Hulls and Oakes, then Simpson which sounds like it’s on it’s last legs just like their Forest Grove mill.

I lived just down the road from Star Fire in the mid-late 80's and they got some real monsters back in the day. They had a deck saw in the yard that had a 12' bar and chain and a 220/240 volt electric motor on a gearbox.

My dad cut some fir up above Trail in the late 70's for Rough & Ready that were monsters but they stopped taking the real big wood in the late 90's.

It’s sure getting hard to get rid of the bigger stuff if it doesn’t hit a top grade export. The best orders I love are bumper fender logs they pay good and as long as they’re straight knot size doesn’t matter or how many.
