Correct me if I'm wrong but don't redwood seeds need fire to crack an out shell so they can grow?

The Sequoias need fire to open the cones and clear the ground, the Sempervirens sprout from the roots and toss tons of seeds.
The old loggers burned to get rid of the slash.
