Where's this at?

Mendocino County, Ca. The tree is redwood. The bark was often peeled in the woods because it had no commercial value and the mills didn't want it.

Can shingle the roof of a log cabin with some barks .

I'm trying to remember. Here in PA I think they used Hemlock bark for the tanneries.

They used to cut the hemlock's and waste the wood and only take the bark.

A fallers (may not be) axe I found at a flea market this summer.
Walters Black diamond, went out if business in the early 70s.
I spent a very short time cleaning it. I dont think it ever seen wood.
