Thanks I posted a pic of some wood in the wood I’d forum that I thought was Doug fir. Now I’m almost positive it is. Smells like dirty plywood when you cut it.

That’s news to me unless it’s rotten, Doug fir smells pretty good when fresh cut off the stump vs say a pine it’s not as pitchy either.

Interesting, the stuff I see is about 60 years old.

That’s something else maybe Hemlock or a true fir

This is a larger second growth Doug fir

It maybe hemlock I thought it looked a lot like eastern hemlock. I guess the smell was throwing me off. Maybe some kind of stuff they treated it with in the 60s.
