My boy put a, dare I say it, LRB piston in his CP55. Ran the snot out of it for a couple seasons and sailed it. He swapped the OP top end with the CP and timed cuts. It was too close to call.

I miss my old 55. I don't know if it was open or closed port, but it was a fine saw for the money. @Mastermind I see that you've settled on a 353 piston. Would a 357xp, 262xp, or 365 P&C fit with some massaging?

Whadya use to clean? Dawn platinum with Palmolive is my go to mix. Cleans and degreases great. Also great tire bead lube.

And get you a DeWalt 12v impact and drill set. You'll never use full sized (or Milwaukee!) tools again. [emoji3]

great thread! i followed joeys advice in a 5000 top end, used the original 44 mm 50 piston and drilled 2 holes on either side of the wrist pin boss and opened the bottom to the case. held together so far...
seems like that 353 piston is the ticket
