#1 Husky 525LS
#2 Stihl FS94R

The Husky is still fairly new but I can't get over the power to weight ratio of this trimmer. Instant throttle response and revs like crazy but very easy to throttle the trigger around delicate items. A simple cat bypass muffler mod brought this trimmer to life.

The Stihl is an all around great well balanced trimmer but falls short of the Husky in power and throttle response. The choke system is the best I've ever seen on a trimmer but the Ecospeed throttle set wheel is a gimmick that I have no need for.

Both trimmers will crank in 2 to 3 pulls when cold and 1 pull thereafter when warm. Both have fully adjustable carbs if you have the Stihl hex and Husky spline screwdrivers. Both trimmers are a pleasure to operate and feel very close in weight. Both trimmers have very low vibration transmitted to the hands while operating them. The Stihl was nearly $60 more expensive than the Husky.

If I had to just choose one it would be the 525 with a Speed Feed 375 head. You guys can keep your heavy 4 stroke trimmers.

Did the 525 replace the 326? My 326 runs like that and power-to-weight is great

I would love the throttle lock, if it was like the one on my BR200. I have 2 jobs I do that are essentially clearing a small lot with a trimmer. Being able to lock the throttle down would be great on my hand!

My neighbor does something similar with some twist ties. The thing is these jobs are like once a month, so I don't think about it until I start doing them! I think I may try this though, before I do them...

It's actually not a lock, but rather an adjustable max limit. Sort of the opposite.

I can vouch for a 525LS! Bought one and have put it through a lot of tough times doing cutting a 25cc has no business doing.

I agree the 525Ls is becoming a favorite of mine. The new Echo 2620 is pretty awesome too. More power by far than the 525 but also about a pound heavier. I will definitely buy either again.

I really need to video myself cutting tall grass with 0.095 string with the 525LS. It is green grass that is going to stalk, so kind of cheating but fun none the less.
