Don't do that. Dead short. So to hook up a regular toggle switch use the black and red wire on the one side of vac switch switch , then pig tie the othe white and red togeather?

Think of your old switch as 2 switches, side by side.

they do that cause they dont want you to get shocked. shocked or electrocuted.kinda like cutting the power to both legs of power. some body post a pic of a leg .with oil on it o *s-word .post derail. oil thread comingwrong
L1 and L2 for the motor are both red...then normal white neutral/ black hot for power cord...
all he is doing is switching the hot side instead of both hot and neutral...exactly the same as any residential light switch...
@merc_man yes you just wire nut the white power cord wire to the red motor lead wire, then the other red wire and the black wire to the switch
Agreed that would work. I mis-read his post as connecting all 4 wires to the switch.wrong

Cheapest switch i found to canada was around 30 bucks with shipping. This is a little cheaper.....Agreed that would work. I mis-read his post as connecting all 4 wires to the switch.
Like birdmeter says, it left the factory the way it did for a reason. Why not just buy the correct switch?

Thought of doin that too.Just tie them together, two separate sets and just use the plug end for off and on. Plug in= on, unplug= off.
