The VitaVouri Powders are great.
Clean burning, meter well, and consistant velosity.
The rifle powders fill the case well helping accuracy.

My Stihls rest on shelves. My Husky lives with the wild things on the floor.

My computer can't spell after dark, sorry

I believe it was IMR 4064, but I will try and find a box, or my old notes, and check. Most of my work was with 4064 or 4350.

I just found two boxes with my workup loads, and I don't know if I ever settled on a load (many still unfired, and divorce happened, etc). However, I was loading 110 gr Hornady round nose and IMR 4064, I tried 31 - 36 grains, 1 grain at a time. I was also using the NLA Win 120 primer.

IIRC, I think they all shot well.

Model 71’s are really cool, but I prefer the look of an 1886 with straight stock, crescent butt plate and full length mag tube. That aside, if I could find a 71 for the right price I’d jump all over it, 348 Win is a great cartridge.

Another lever gun I’d love to own is a Model 94 big bore in either 358 or 307 Win. They are post 64 models but they are extremely well built and fitted. My brother @RIDE-RED 350r has one chambered in .375 Win and it’s absolutely gorgeous. Both can be found without the cross bolt safety or angle eject features which I prefer. But of course a big bore 94 in the traditional configuration brings a premium price. The only thing that sucks about collecting Winchester’s is there are so many other people that collect them too. The prices are always going up, even on newer stuff.

Those are both great powders. Another good 30-30 powder is IMR 3037 if my memory serves me correctly. I’ve settled on that for my .32 Special and the accuracy it delivered was astounding compared to some of the other powders I’ve experimented with.

Dang it Mike, you’re giving me an itch to get back on the reloading bench. I loaded everything I had over a year ago, made so much ammo I broke the shelf in my safe..lol! Nice to have a stock pile though. I’m taking my boys in the woods for a 22 plinking day today, gonna be fun.

I have a 69 Buffalo Bill Commemorative with the 26" Octagon barrel and full length mag and straight stock. I can shoot that gun offhand better than any other gun I have. Just holds like an old black powder rifle. My cousin has an old 94 (was his Dad's), 26" round barrel, full length mag, in 32-40. I always wanted to get my hands on that.

But my eyes are not what they used to be, and with the heavy brush we hunt in I prefer my scoped Ruger American Rifle in 30-06 for hunting.

I believe one of my friends snagged a 94 Big Bore in 444, said it was a real limited run. Like you say, if I came across one not priced to the moon I would get it, they are nice. Also, wasn't the big bore a 356 (along with the 307). Was disappointed those nice cartridges did not survive … similarly the 35 Winchester chambered in the 95. Always wanted to find one of them also.

Enjoy that time! My Brother and I did that with our Grandsons a week ago up at my cabin in the Catskills. The kids loved the shooting and "exploring" on the ATVs. I'm on the mountain top, over looking Cannonsville Reservoir, 2 mi in on a 4WD road. We stayed 3 days, no electric, no TV, no internet … they loved it!

Yup they chambered those in some awesome cartridges. Do you remember when Marlin introduced the 308 marlin express? It was touted like some new ground breaking thing getting .308 power into a lever gun. Then we learn about the .307 Winchester, same dern thing but introduced 30 years ago. It’s a shame it died, I think if lever guns were as popular in he 80’s as they are now it would still be around.

Another completely badass big bore chambering like the 444 is the 450 Marlin. Good lawd that’s a door smasher! The only draw back for me is I’ve never seen one saddled in wood stocks. I believe they only came in synthetic...no go for this guy.

A hand loaded 45-70 in a strong action is not to be under estimated.

Trouble is, too may different "loading pressures" with the guns. Trap Door Springfield - Weak, Model 86 - Better, Marlin Lever - Stronger yet, Ruger #3 - African Game!

My cousin had a 450 in wood stock.
He bought it the first year the came out.
