I know I just made a post but it just had me thinking about something. Sugihara vs stihl chains. I know the Japanese are famous for their steal and for sharpening blades. For example the katana sword. But the Germans make a killer steal as well. Example the US main battle tank M1 Abrams has a German made barrel. Who makes a better chain?

Stihl chain steel is also not technically German made.

Quote Google:
STIHL saw chains are Swiss high-precision products. They have been made for decades at the STIHL plant in Wil, using specialized machines developed in-house.

IMHO:
Stihl chains are severely over rated!
Go with Husqvarna X-Cut.

Researched fact: Sugihara chain is not made in Japan- it's Chinese made chain (they do claim it's steel from Germany) put in a box with Sugihara printed on it.

Of course, Sugihara bars, like Tsumura bars, are tier one.

Haha ya Oh well. My sister does the same with me all the time. I've never really been good with penmanship. Punctuation is something I'm still learning to use when typing or writing in general.

How do they compare with stihl light bars? Not necessarily talking about strength. I mean how's the weight differences?

I had a lot of people coming in and buying the Stihl 20" lite bars...seemed like a waste to me for the smaller bar like the 20". Seems like you start getting more of the bang for your buck in the 28"+. Not saying I would not use a lite 20" if it was given to me, but not going out of my way to buy one.

Regular "Tsumura light" bars usually aren't too much heavier than Stihl Rollomatic ES light bars. Sugihara light bars are a little heavier than the Tsumura lights.

"Tsumura Premium light" bars are even lighter than their regular Lights, but I don't know how their weight compares to the Stihl Rollomatic ES lights.

Correct me if I'm wrong but arent the 04 "light" bars not actually light bars? I can't remember which one it was. I believe the 06s are actually light but the 04s are a gimmick like the term magnum. Well at least their newer models. Unlike 038 Av and 038magnum.

Stihl Rollomatic ES Light bars are pro bars. The 04 and I think the 06 are laminated and not actual "light" bars.

But isn't laminated what makes a bar a light bar? Instead of a solid. What makes the rollomatic es light bars different from laminated? I thought laminated were guide rails with hollow cores.

I think there is a honeycomb type pattern between the sides. If you put one in a chainsaw mill and crank down on it, it will crush in the bar. Had a friend loan out his 36" light bar and the guy crushed it when he cranked it into the mill.

I'\m not sure how Stihl makes its ES Rollo Light bars, but Sugihara, and Tsumura's regular light, are made from solid blanks that are then milled out and filled with resin. Husky's newer X-Tough Light bars are also reportedly made by Sugihara.

No one particular brand stands out like a sore thumb on a sunday morning.

All accross the board, same tooth degradation in clean wood, 1/4, .325, 3/8, after each tank on various brands. Both hard/soft and wet/bone dry.

Periodic touch up is more important, me at least once per tank, if I hit the dirt, more than once per tank.

Taking into account rail wear, tooth slop/slosh if you file inside out took me quite some time to understand to perdorm proper touch ups on the bar.

Just got a loop of Sugi Hara chain from HL as I was curious to see what it was like. All I can say for now is that it has the name DIATOP stamped on every link. Searched for that and come up with a company in Korea, however nothing on the chain did I see. Have not tried it in some wood yet, hard telling when I will, I'll try and report back if I do.

Their bar tips have Diatop on them aswell. I think maybe SugiHara are a part of DiaTop corporation or something

Interesting, curious what you're thoughts are on the sugi hara chain.
