MIGHT (might not also ) get a saw from my neighbor

My neighbor told me he wold let me get one of his saws from him- its either a stihl 046 or 044- has a cracked fuel tank.
The guy rarely comes thru for me but by some slim chance he does-- REALLY slim, what would be a real good deal for me for that saw- not a fair deal or a steal of a deal either--just a real good deal. There are zero other issues and I know it runs good for sure.
Whats the difference anyways between the two saws?

046 is slightly larger, heavier and more powerful. If the fuel tank needs replaced it will cost. $300-450 is a ballpark for a good deal. 046 is worth more than 044.

The AM tanks are reasonable.
