I was just about to mention that. On the Husqvarna website the 395 and 390 supposedly have the same oiler flow ratings and are both recommended a max bar of 28". I've found that a 28" is the biggest I'd want to run on my 2188 (390) with the oiler at max, it starts to dry out a 32" fully buried. However, I have run a 42", and it did work, but was very dry, so before I had to use the 42" again I modified my oiler todo about a half tank oil per tank of gas minimum, and dump 1.5-2 (I can't remember for sure) tanks of oil per tank of gas on max. It really helps it pull a buried 42" chain.
I've heard the 395 is a good stump saw, and with my experience the 660 cuts too similarly to a muffler modded 390 for me to want to pick it over a 395. I'm still unsure about a 661 though, they are pretty strong, I've just never run a 395 to compare.
I thought you were supposed to go through a tank of oil to a tank of gas, That's how My saw's are set up, even My 262 with a 20" bar goes through 3/4+ tank of Oil, to tank of gas ???
Oil is Cheap compared to the Bar & Chain.
Or Am I Wrong on this ???
( edit ) the reason I'm probably on the conservative end of this discussion, the chainsaw I was Borrowing, Was My next door neighbor, some 50cc Monkey wards saw, did good for what I needed, whenI got done, the other naybor asked to borrow the saw next, said ' O ' yea, already talked to him All is Well, Ok hears the gas & oil, this is how to start it & stop. Check the chain Stretch... And Dont force It, Raill road Ties are Hard & Nasty, just take it easy.... Well two days later he returned the saw........
Instantly Houston, We have a Problem... the bar looks like a Ciyth or crescent moon, & chain hung about 6" below the Non - Existent bar edge, Tes That's How Muchof the bar was Missing. All the paint burned Off, and many Beautiful Colors, Straw, purple, Dark Blue, and even some Black. The chain Stretched Minimum 20% probably 30-36%, and the naybor said it stopped cutting, so here you go, the Funny thing Was the oil bottle Was Just as Full as when he borrowed it... when I asked why the bottle was full, he said you Filled it when you gave it to Me, but the gas can was Empty, The Morale of the Story,,, " Dont Rent Pigs to Retardes
