28-40" hardwood- would you run a Ported 395 or a Ported MS661?

I have a ported 9010 which is a fine saw, but it may be sent down the road soon. I'm pretty much leaning towards the 395, but am looking for real-world experience to weigh in. I had a MS660 and it was a fine saw. I may or may not keep the 9010, but having run both the 395 seems to have good torque. Ultimately I'll be felling and bucking some Larger Hedge, Ash, Oak and Honey Locust trees, with the occasional Pine, Piss Elm and Cottonwood thrown in. I want good throttle response but need torque. I don't care about racing as this buy isn't for playing with cants, though it will be ported. I have existing bars that will work with either saw so no real advantage there. I know that the 390xp is also an excellent option, (and may get one eventually) but I want to strap a 36-42" bar on the saw I buy and pull it well. I'm not ruling out a 3120 or 2100 (used) but I'm looking more towards a new purchase and am not overly fond of the MS880.

Thank you for your thoughts!

Not a thing, just parts are getting hard to come by, so I want to invest in something that's still around. Then, buy most of the parts to give it a full-on rebuild later in life. Probably last until I'm done cutting wood.
Gotcha. I recently got a 9010 and they seem to have a ton of torque. I don’t have a ton of time on a 661 but will soon. Ported 395’s sure are a lot of fun.

I still may keep it, but I'm looking toward the future. Not knowing if/when Husky will have a 59X on the market, I'm debating about buying a new or new-to-me big saw this Spring. I did notice how light the 661 is but the 395 seems to balance a longer bar better. IF Stihl released a 95ish cc model of the MS500I, I'd likely buy it.

Both are good saws and can run very strong, but my nod would go to the 661 because it is lighter, and I would also choose a light weight bar.

You will get arguments all day long as to which one is stronger, and I guess I'm swayed by the TM 661 at the CT GTG which nosed out the heavier 394/395s in the big wood. I've heard others strongly state that the 395 is stronger … maybe it depends on the porting.

The 394/5 have a forgiving powerband, good oiler, more aggressive clutch, great filter, strong bottom end and adjustable carb. Parts are fairly cheap. All good things for a stumping or milling saw. They are a bit old school, but that’s why I like em.

Don’t really need light weight for stumping.
I wouldn’t buy an expensive bar either, dirty rotten wood lot of time.

MMWS 661R. I don't need long bar too often but did pick up a like new 36 Tsumura Light from a member. For stumping though my 660 works better than the 3/4 wrap.
