I'm not sure why but when I cut with the top side of the bar my saw bogs down. It runs great cutting on the bottom of the bar. Saw starts great and runs fine all day long, just not when cutting with the top side of the bar.

I’d say the saw is fine, cutting from bottom up with a saw the operator has a tendency to use his legs to create the upward cutting force which could easily be as much force as dogging in hard with the spikes.

Saws always cut slower when back barring. I wouldn’t worry, it sounds stupid but try applying less pressure upwards, saw should self feed pretty decent even cutting upwards if the chain is sharpened correctly

I’ve found my chain can come off easily while back baring.

First few times, I kinda couldn’t figure it out.. but after that I watch the chain loosen up while getting hot cutting. Then watch the chain gather up in front of the log (smaller log this time) and jump outta the rails 🤔.

Now I’m more careful on how hard I pull up on the saw 👍

You might try removing the chain, flipping the bar over, remounting the chain, and see if that changes anything.

Make sure you have a nicely sharpened chain and yes all said above
is great information.
Unless you are running a saw in the 70cc and above bracket smaller cc rated
saws will struggle. I allways try a cut down as much as possible.
