Recently got a Husqvarna 576xp and noticed something unusual. on the clutch side of the magnesium housing is a circular cutout. there is a bolt in the handle that passes through the center of the opening. what is the purpose of this???

My guess is so the antivibe can still move
but the anti-vibe spring is just above it in the photo. the bolt from the handle makes no contact with anything, just sits there in the center of the 1" cutout.

almost seems like there should be a rubber AV element in the cutout with the bolt going through it to provide some dampening of AV.

If your really applying torque to the saw it gives it a solid stop instead of wrecking the AV.
Interesting, would never have thought of that. I take it you lean on the saw pretty hard.

I worked on a 575 and 576 for a friend a little while back. The 575 came to me in a box. I too found that part to be weird, like something was missing. But that's the way it is, just a limiter.

If you have the dawgs dug in and you are really working the saw it just happens.

I don't see why they shouldn't put a plastic or rubber hat on the post. There's no reason it should be metal on metal contact. I looked up the ipl when I built mine thinking I missed a piece and I was also surprised.
that's a good idea, I think I'll try some heat shrink tubing on the post

+1

Movement limiter to save the AV mounts.

Some of their other saw models have the same feature and are even adjustable.

If you go with rubber it could possibly vibrate like a old rubber mount saw prematurely because you would be taking travel out of the system. Kinda like limiting a shock.

I wasn't picturing a big ol rubber piece in my mind which would do exactly that. I put a piece of black oem Stihl line over mine to soften the metal on metal chewing. It's that harder line with the lettering on it. It'll need replaced every so often.

What do you mean by line? Fuel line?
