Do you have that many big trees in Hawaii?
We do have some good sized trees out here but I can’t really justify having this many saws. I mill the wood I use for my wood work & use chainsaws for pretty much everything. Here’s some monkey pod, which gets huge.

That's gorgeous. Reminds me of Aussie wood.

4 stock
1 with a DP muffler cover
2 ported, 1 of the stockers in waiting to be sent to CFB.

It’s time to thin the herd some, but I really don’t want to let them go. They all have their pluses and minuses, and honestly I have two really clean MS 461s that are almost too nice for me to start to run the snot out of, but I also don’t want to let go because they’re so nice.

Oh well.

I’d keep the 461s. I just acquired two. One NOS and the other is like new MMWS. I wish I had jumped on the 461 bandwagon years ago. Can’t even come up with a good reason why I didn’t, somehow I just overlooked the model until now. I’d put it in my top 3 of what Im running now.

I find 461’s/460’s to be the best do-all saw for what I do, stock they’re torquey but lazy (in my opinion), ported they’re perfect.
I do a lot of maintenance and am very particular about my saws but 120+ cord later and the only non maintenance thing I’ve had to replace is a chain adjuster.

I’ve been a fan of them since they first came out. I don’t know why, but they feel more refined in my hands than a 460 or 046 does. And I really like the early 046 with D-jug and bigger fuel tanks.

I own 5 of the bigger 1128s (046/460/461s.) The 046 and 460 would be the first two to go. The 460 has been worked over by Randy, if that says anything. Which is odd, I find the 046/460 to accelerate better than the 461s I’ve run, but that rear handle vibration just destroys my right hand at the end of the day.

Who knows? All I know for sure is that I don’t need 7 chainsaws.

That’s such a great size saw for cutting timber. I love my 460 as well. Lately been using it more for bucking, but if I get into larger timber, it’s the first saw I reach for.

Not in front of my saws at the moment but they just popped in my head. I’d got away from saws for a bit as my life was taking me in another direction, but over the last few months, I’ve started dabbling my toes in saws again adding quite a few. I realized as I was calling the models off in my head by size that for the first time in the 15 years since I got really into saws, I have more stock saws than ported. The ratio is 2:1 not including those in my nos collection.

What’s your current ratio?
You forgot to add closet saws to your list.

only saws I had that really bothered my hands was a stihl 041 I had and then a ported 064. By the time I added the 064 I was well acquainted with Husq and so the vibes were noticeable to me.
