123214598 should be in an 044 slant fin.

Unfortunately the workshoppist Stihl serial number look up machine is no longer working. Nor is the Decoding Husqvarna serial number machine.
Big pity as it was very handy and accurate. At least when checked against known purchase /build dates for saws I own.

Not showing as registered in Stihl which means no one will be able to tell aside from if the workshoppist tool comes back up at some point...

You are correct, that serial number comes back as an april '15 ms291 according to the dealer parts lookup

I stole this from a post in a different forum. The "Wayback Machine" archives internet sites. This link:

Brings up the old Workshoppist site. It takes a while to load, but if you scroll down, the calculator still works.

It gave me 1988 for my 056 Magnum II and 1966 for my 090.
