stihl saw ID

I feel a bit like a rookie asking, but iam not so familiar with stihl saws. Customer brought a saw for repair, nowhere does it say what model. Has a 48mm piston, from what i see online is it must be a 034/036 family of saws. Iall try to post some pics yet, hopefully the stihl guys can help me out.

48mm would be 034 Super/036 in that family. There's not too many 48mm bores in the Stihl family so it's a relatively narrow cross-section of models it could be.

still working on uploading pics with my slow internet, any difference in piston/cylnders from 034-036? It needs a top end.

i don't see many of them in my area @trooney, that's why i struggle with id'ing it. now if it was a husky that wouldn't take me very long.
after looking through some ipl's and looking at the carb that's on it, iam quite positive its a ms360.

No harm. I meant it was easy to tell an 038 from an 036/360 by their cosmetics. Plus the cases have the Stihl numbers on them as well as the jug to help with id. or at least get you pointed in the right direction.

Pics of anything might help.

If the choke plate is in the carb it’s an 1125 034/6 saw. If it’s in the airfilter and the saw is big and fat, you have a standard 038.

Engine cover, tanks all kinds of stuff have parts numbers. Starting with 1125 is 034 family, 1119 is 038.
