Rural Kings sells a "All Season" oil also.

Wow. Good deal there. Just no Rural King stores anywhere around me.
Says you can have it shipped , maybe order a few bottles at a time to make up for whatever the shipping cost is.
Sell some to your buddy's. I just looked it up , $10 to ship 1 bottle or $15 to ship 5 bottles.

You can probably do all yourselves a favor by just using the age old trick of running part of a tank of diesel fuel through the oiling system .Take the bar and chain off first, diesel fuel doesn't make a very good chain lube.
I don't make a habit of cutting when it gets real cold .However back when I did I have used automatic tranny fluid .Those old leaky pieces of junk I had at that time caused me to usually have a case of the stuff on hand .-------good old days my foot .

For years I've used a 50/50 mixture of TSC bar oil and 15w40 diesel engine oil. It works fine for me but I don't cut in sub freezing temps. I use that all year around and in all my saws.

The thing I find interesting is when I looked up the material data sheets for the Itasca bar oil I use, it showed a 10, 20 and 30 weight oil. I've never seen it sold with a winter grade on it so I assume it all 30 weight. Still, even if I did find a winter grade which is it, 10 or 20 weight?

Good question. Some winter weight oil mentions the weight. Some don't.

Itasca in the green jug is all I have bought over the past few years although the price recently went up $3 a gallon at Autozone

I was never aware they even had a winter weight oil

With the price increase I will most likely buy Hooski oil at Lowe's in the future and get the 10% military discount

The only winter weight oil I have seen around here is Stihl and the gallon I bought several years ago will most likely last a long time as the only reason I fire up a saw in winter is to clear downed trees on my local trails

I am sure being Alaska there are other winter weight options; I just never really bothered to look

Neither did I but the sheet showed 3 weights so they must offer it. The only place I can buy it locally is Auto Zone as well. It was $9/gal but it's like 10.99 or 11.99 now. I still buy it, seems worth the extra 3 dollars over TSC oil to me and the only next obvious brand based on price is walmart bar oil. No way I'm going to pay almost $20/gal for Stihl bar oil. :risas3:

Yeah, Itasca jumped from $9 here to $12 as well at Autozone

I get 10% military there as well but damn...

I guess nobody told them gas prices are down

Just for grins I went on the Stihl website and used their dealer finder/price lookup tool and apparently the ACE hardware in Anchorage that is a Stihl dealer has orange jug for $12 A GALLON

This place is kind of weird cause they started out with a little Stihl display a few years ago and over time it has taken over an entire corner of the store

Even weirder; the few Stihl parts I have bought there have been absurdly cheap

I was buying a Christmas ornament (its also a Hallmark Store) and grabbed a couple of extra honest to god real Stihl bar nuts while I was there...

$1 each...

Nobody there knows a chainsaw from a can opener but who gives a crap if the stuff is cheap

I just have to give them a part number and they seem to be able to find what I need
