Are you sure the gauge is accurate and it is sealing in the cylinder? That is a bit low but sure would start easy enough at that. Put in seals, vac test and replace the piston and what ever else looks worn.

Put it back together then pull it over with the plug out several times with the switch off. Then put the plug back back in and see if it will run, don't choke it.

I didn't flood it! wasn't me I swear hehe. This isn't my saw... just tryin to figure out what happened. I'm kinda interested in why the low compression at this point. temped to pull the cylinder and consider a new ring.

140 is not low for starting it , i have a husqvarna 372 a old saw that i rebuild with old parts just for fun it have 115-120 and start with one pull

I have a method the will unflood most any saw. I remove the plug, put the piston at TDC, open the choke, and tie the trigger wide open with the air filter off. Then set it out in the sun for a few hours. If the needle is leaking, or you think it might be, take the fuel line off, and plug it.

Got the saw to start with no carb on it....a little carb cleaner and she popped. Turning it upside down helped in think.

Cleaned the carb and put it back together....more carb cleaner and encouragement and she pops. Hot start one pull now. I like the idea of the stuck needle...bUT the carb looked pretty nice

I'll let it sit overnight and try to start cold tomorrow.

All kinds of good ideas in this thread gents. ...thanks.

Flywheel is off...key not sheared

Spark screen clean and clear

Carb apart.... needle does not appear to be stuck....seems to function fine.

Turned saw upside down with the plug out and rotated the crank...definitely had extra fuel in there...
Plug is brandy new.....air filter new.

Spark looks weak though. I'll take a closer look one of these days. I'm not home right now...maybe tomorrow night if I get a few minutes after work I can do more diagnostics.
Hold the plug and pull if it shocks you hard its working:cool::D:eek:

LW....when's the last time you got tagged w/ that kind of voltage?

btw, plug lead to shorting lead is 20k ohms, not 20 ohms, and shorting lead to ground is 17k ohms on mine.

Of interest...the 441 doesn't seem THAT difficult to work on. I don't really know what you guys are talking about. Reminds me of a 455 rancher w/ that double stacked funky carb. Of course, I didn't try to remove the intake boot, but still. carb, flywheel, coil, air filter air box etc all seem fairly straight forward, if not a tad odd.

Well the ohms are similar then. Maybe it was flooded .

Hi Mr Mattyo, I have been following this thread on the 441. I have a 441cm that I took off my shelf and added fuel mix to it. It started and ran fine. The coil is flat sided with the number 1138 1700 on it. It also has a quick disconnect terminal where the red and black wire connects to.

I also checked the coil on my MS361 and it also flat sided with the number 1135 1300, but the two terminals are in different locations.

If you still have problem starting your 441, I can drive up to Farmington from Warwick, RI ( about 2 hours), and we can take the coil off my saw and try it in yours, if you like. Let me know here or you can send me a PM. Thanks.

Jack

Hey Jack, thanks for the offer. Let me see if she starts tomorrow. If yes, I'll put it in some wood and get it tuned. Hopefully that'll be the end of it.

I have 2 local parts saws that I can pick up if I need to, no need for a 2 hour drive from RI .... a generous offer though....I'll keep it in mind!

Had similar issues on 660 some junk got in the carb check valve. With filter off I could see fuel dripping inside carb.
