It does take a bigger threading tool but it can save a cylinder so its the cost that determines if its the route to go or not. Quite likely to cost more for a setup than a new cylinder can be purchased for but its another option to the standard size inserts and welding.If its thicker wouldn't that mean the same threading tool would not work. I am pretty sure the tool I bought was from NAPA.
