I had the top off mine a few days ago to reduce squish. It's been so long since I've been inside a 362 I wouldn't know the differences. I received this from Stihl tech. Not much detail, but something.

Do the transfer ports feed from the front like a 461 or do they feed from the sides like a 441? It would need an entirely different crankcase redesign than the side fed 362 for a front fed transfer.

The lowers are front feeders like a 461 or 462. I think the straddle ports are a thing of the past.
I talked to a Stihl dealer several months ago about the differences between the 362 and 400. As I recall, but don't want to be held to it, he said the crankshaft, crankcase, and crankshaft bearings were all different in the 400. I'm going from several months old memory on that.
The piston is about the color of the crankcase. And although the outside of the cylinder casting looks a bit rough, the machine work is very good.
I had about 1/2 fuel load of cutting time on the saw. The solid black rings were just barely rubbed down against the cylinder. I thought that was a little unusual.
Maybe hard rings. But the saw has excellent compression.

What do you need help with? Is yer car busted and you can't get back to the dealer? I'm sure one of our PA members would be happy to give you a lift.

Me too.
I'm a little enticed about it but.... there are other girls higher on the priority wish list.
Maybe I should stop referring to a wish list. I will get them. It's just a matter of time and coin.

I ran one at the PA GTG and was impressed ... but I'm also impressed with the 462s!!!

Franky, I don't think you could go wrong with either one, both great Hp to weight.
