Has anyone found a good way to reattach the heating element in the rear handle.

It has a stickie backing when new.

I feel once pulled off. Its not going to stick any more.

I thought about that. But the service manual wants a tight bond to the rear handle. As the element can overheat and burn out Screenshot_20211225-102225.png

I don’t think spray adhesive would be strong enough

Your probably right. There was a thread on one of the forums a few years back. That a guy was reattaching the heating element. With success. I remember reading it, but I sure cant find it now

A thin layer of clear silicone calk. We use it all the time to attach hard plastic labels on outside electrical boxes. It sticks really good and is flexible to withstand vibration and heat cycling.

Silicone often gets a bad rep for not sticking stuff, the thing is that silicone really needs the surfaces to be overly clean of all contamination, one needs to work diligently to get the surfaces super clean and dry before applying the product. That does not mean one can swipe a finger or thumb over the part and that be good enough, just remember squeaky clean and dry.

Hey everyone!

I have the part number 1128 434 5000 for the 064/066/660 rear handle heating foil.
Can You Stihl-heads check whether this is the current part number and if there is a newer one please post it!

Thank You very much! :beer-toast1:

My 044 was loose. So I used a bit of foam to hold it in place. Also one of the wires came off while I was faffing around. I had to solder it back on.
I didn’t want to pay the silly price they charge here. I have to pay the vat. So it’s. £34.64
