Chain looks fairly new. Sometimes there is hardly enough room for the file between the tooth and the raker. Practice.

I ran into that issue when I began sharpening. This chain is kind of my dummy chain to just test it out, I want to try and create consistency with each cutter. I thought that because the file was unable to work its way in, it was due to poor set up. Does anyone have a recommendation for the correct angles that everything should be set for full chisel cutters?

You are working with Husky/Oregon Chain, it calls for 10 deg. tilt and 25 deg. top plate. I have had good luck with 5 deg. tilt and 30 deg. top plate. Or, like Dall said, most all Stihl chains are 0/30 Saves a step when changing sides because tilt stays same. (zero)

The little brass roller is the key to consistent length. If I am satisfied that a tooth is sharp, I will quit before I hit the roller. But none will be shorter than the roller allows. Small variations are an unavoidable fact of life for me...

wouldnt the 10 and 25 give you a tooth close to the 0 and 30 i am not sure which way angle up or down ?
I think you are right, certain combos get you basically to the same result. You can really feather the edge with the guide and a light touch, so they're going to be sharp and cut just fine regardless of minor differences in set up.

Angle up into the corner. & yes the up down angle changes the top plate angle but it's the other way around. 10/35 will be like 0/30

speak english thats a work chain for me
@dall I'm calling ya out for the world to see. Work chain to work chain race. You and I. You bring that chain to Randy's Gtg.
Rules. Seven cuts down a oak big. Then, three cuts timed. And I'll need to borrow your saw.
I'll bring my round work chain to run against your flat top round filed work chain.
Winner buys lunch.

The original picture looks like the file is too low in the cutter.
Needs to be 20% file diameter above the the top plate.

This will get that roll out of the top plate cutting edge.

IMHO, full chisel, hard wood, 0 and 25.

Semi chisel, 10 and 30

How do you guys get the increments, like the file 1/10, or as mentioned 20% above the top plate, so dialed in? Do you recommend the use of a caliper?

If you have a clip on or screw on file guide you could use it as an example of how high the file should ride
