Stihl 441 Sale to a friend? Price?

Any friend who'd show up if called upon in the early AM hours to help YOU is a friend worth keeping. Seeking a valuation shows you care & do right by him. From what you have said he sounds like he could use a good honest well looked after saw which is exactly what you have. That saw may fetch $500 on a good day here retail, if a dealer/trader were to price it to re-sell and allow for some spend it's wholesale price would be somewhere between $250-350 tops to make a little. I'd look after your mate and give him a good deal, he trust's you, likely won't haggle and will be there when you need him. Sometimes that can be worth a hell of a lot more than a saw. You'll feel good too.

According to my chart, the 441 has a dry weight of 14,1 lb and the 461 has a dry weight of 14.6 lb. The 441 kicks out 5.3 Hp and the 461 has 6.0 Hp. The 441 will cost you $990 PHO and the 461 will cost you $1,080, PHO.

The go-to Stihl dealer in my area never even stocked 441's for his 70cc class..., just 461's. Sold exactly one 441C-M to a guy who just had to have one.

I had a non M Tronic 441 and liked it a lot, but no better than my 044 (which I still have). I think the non M Tron versions were lighter than the M Tron ones.

With the amount of use on that saw I would say $500 tops, and for a friend I would throw in the new B+C.

Now that the 462 is out, which is both lighter and stronger than a 441, IMO the value is diminished.

You look like you actually use chainsaws. Send your 441 to get ported and your perspective will switch back.

I've run a saw here and there...
Have a Husky 372 XP in the shop getting suped up a little.
With modded 440 and soon to arrive (I hope) Husky 372, wasn't planning on porting the 441.
He'd been asking me to keep an eye our for a decent saw. Well, Maybe I have one...

Ever tried giving something to someone who is dead set on paying for it? More hassle than trying to solder copper fittings with water in the line.

I'm thinking $475 - $500 for the saw, new Stihl 24" ES replaceable sprocket nose bar and a couple of new chains.

Edit...Will throw on a new 3/8 x 050 sprocket too. Have only replaced it once before.

Agreed. The 441 never seemed quite as sweet as an original 044 as far as weight or simplicity...the 441 I used moons ago was mtronic, it never ran quite right and seemed to weigh a ton. We called it...the Toddler. Like carrying a small child, especially with a full weight 25" bar.
