Awhile back I heard or read something there are some slight differences on a saw that came from Malyasia vs US or wherever. Is this true? If so, what are the differences?
I did a search on here and couldn’t find much

Stihl offer some of their chainsaws in versions for countries with gasoline with RON (Research Octane Number)<90. These are designated by the suffix N, such as MS 361-N. They have a reduced compression ratio to reduce the likelihood of knocking. This is achieved simply by using a thicker cylinder base gasket, such as 1 mm instead of 0.5 mm.

Although in Malaysia, as in Europe, the base type of gasoline has RON=95 if I am not mistaken. Maybe it was about Indonesia or some other country?

Anyone have TI 24.2013? There may be information on MS 361 two cylinder versions there.

I don't see TI 24.2013 listed with the 361 model. Parts breakdown shows 2 cylinder numbers.
Thank you. Given that in 2013 MS 361 is no longer sold in North America and the EU maybe it's not surprising that you can't find this TI. Presumably there were many design changes in it, which may explain the differences, as MS 361 is still sold in (like many other models), for example, South America, South Africa, Asian countries (including Malaysia) and some European non-EU countries.
It wouldn't be the first time in Stihl's history that the same market name sometimes hides significantly different machines. Stihl's stated maximum engine power has not changed, though.

We used to have RON=91 gasoline option some 20-25 yrs ago....then some "briliant" minds invented downsizing....and then consenquently RON=95 gasoline become minimum standard...
