If you look close at the compression pic, you can see the slanted fins.
I don't believe any 10mm jugs had straight fins, but could be wrong. Happened once...or twice..or thrice

That's a winter filter kit sir ,most of them were sold in Canada .

I've had a about fifty 044's and almost all had this filter set up. It just seems to be the way they are up here. Same deal with the 064 and 066's. Very seldom I get them with the "HD filter".

They were almost standard issue in canada ,the saws came with a little plastic cover for the recoil cover also ,that could be taken on and off .
In this area most had the hd2 filters ,the heated handle saws mostly came with the small winter covers also .

The winter recoil cover is common up here or copious amounts of duct tape to keep the snow out of the recoil. ..lol :)

I'm in no way knocking the Stihls, but overall this is Husqvarna country around here for the simple fact that they do better in the extremes of winter. Especially falling where a saw is tossed into three feet of fluffy snow and gets retrieved from a couple feet down still idling away. Part of why 288's are legendary still for loggers.
