Does anyone here have an 066 piston laying around that they could pull a few measurements off of? Since 54mm 056 pistons can't be found I've decided that I'll try retrofitting an 066 piston to that saw if possible, but I need to know the conn rod width or the width of the gap for it in the piston and I'd like to know the distance from the top of the wrist pin hole to the top of the piston. I know guys who can make that distance longer or shorter, but knowing a ballpark idea would still be nice.

Meteor catalog shows 23mm from pin centerline to crown for a 066. A husqvarna 288 shows 22mm pin cl to crown but has a 13mm dia pin vs 12mm on the stihl piston. What are 056 dimensions?

Yep, it'll work.

I'll check that later tonight and report back. I do know that if you use an 056 wrist pin bearing you can run an 056 piston in an 066, so I imagine the reverse is true.

056 is ~22mm center to crown, wrist pin hole is 12.75mm so probably 13mm. Con rod width for an 056 is 14.5mm, and top of wrist pin hole to crown is ~the same as @Funky sawman ’s measurement. Hmm, @Funky sawman what’s the skirt widths on your slug? Exhaust is 35.7mm on mine, and the intake side is pretty much the same.

Does anyone have a 281/288 crank/piston they can find the con rod width on? If a 288 uses the same bearing as the 056 that would make life much easier for me. I have a 281 jug so I can check the port widths and see if the 056 and 281 ports are the same approx size so I don’t need skirt width #’s for them.
